I grew up in a traditional first-gen household. My Vincentian mother worked nights, while my Panamanian father took up to three jobs to ensure that my sister and I could pursue the American Dream. Since writing wasn’t a “real” career, I followed the expected path: I graduated, climbed the PR ladder, went to business school, and took a marketing job at a Fortune 100 company. My parents were proud, but I felt increasingly misaligned and miserable.

Writing was my refuge. I had always been a storyteller – from the mysteries I wrote and the journal I kept as a child, to the articles and poems I crafted as a young adult. But it wasn’t until I wrote my first pilot after I left my marketing job that I truly understood what flow and fulfillment felt like.

Today, I write stories that sprinkle in elements of magic into the mundane. I am drawn to dramas that center marginalized, female leads who grapple with who they are and where they belong. Even as they set out on journeys of self-discovery, these women are audacious and passionate.

As I continue to write, I also support other creatives who are navigating similar journeys.
